Workers’ Compensation LANG GOVERNMENT’S PROPOSALS ASSESSED VALUE OF LIMBS. [By Cable —Press Association—Copyright.) (Received 6, 8.45 a.m.) Sydney, Nov. 6. The amended Workers’ Compensation Act. read the first time in the Assembly, provides that £675 be paid • for losing an arm, £6OQ a leg, £525 | a foot, £375 an eye and £675 if the other eye is also seriously damaged, £6OO for loss of hearing, £225 lor a thumb, £l5O for a forefinger, £ll2 for other lingers, £9O for a toe, and £75 lor a joint of a toe. Where death results from injury dependants receive a sum aggregating from £lOO but not exceeding £BOO VOTE OF CENSURE DEFEATED. Sydney, Nov. 5. Mr. Bavin, leader of the Opposition, in the New South Wales Assembly, moved the suspension of the Standing Orders for the purpose of moving a vote qf censure on the Government, alleging that the Government denied the members an adequate right of discussion on the bill depriving the railwaymen of their seniority and status. The vote on the suspension question was equal. 38, and the Speaker, according to precedent, voted for Mr. Bavin, who moved his motion. Mr. Fitzpatrick moved the application of the gag, but the Government managed to find two suppoiters and the gag was defeated after a bitter debate. The censure motion was defeated by 44 votes to 39. Air. Lang announced that the Government had decided to adjourn the AssomMv till November 17 to enable members to participate in the Federal election campaign.
