TRIED AND FOUND WANTING
LABOUR’S VAUNTED P.P.R. Sydney, Nov. 5. The Assembly put through all stages a bill to abolish proportional representation and substitute single seat electorates, with the first past the post system. A motion by Mr Bavin to adopt preferential voting in single scat electorates was rejected. In the tile eases, before the New South Wales Equity Court, the Attor-ney-General alleged that the defem lants monopolised the trade in the roofing tile industry, and combined such purpose. He asked for an injunction to restrain them from continuing to act contrary to the Monopolies Act. Defendants agreed to a decree to terminate the existing contracts.
