IMMIGRATION.
(Received 6, 8.45 a.m.) London, Nov. 4. Mr. L. Al. Amery has appointed a committee, of which Sir Donald MacLean is chairman, including representatives of the Overseas Settlement Committee and representatives of the dominions, to consider how far the existing provision for old age pensions, national health, and unemployment insurance tends to discourage emigration from Great Britain, how far such tendency is accentuated by the Widows’ and Orphans’ Act, 1925, and how any such adverse effect can be counteracted.—(Reuter.)
