Thus the critic of the “Melbomne Herald’’ < f this brii liant musical comedv: “The Theatre Royal was crowded when the first performance of J. C. Williamson’s new play. “Kid Boots" was given, and the enthusiasm aroused by the first glimpse of the opening scene continued to increase until the close, when the curtain had to be raised too many times for a count to bo kept, and a wealth of flowers and other gifts were handul on to the stage. There is n.ery prospect of a long and successful run for “Kio Bools’’ and .Melbourne was fortunate in witnessing its brilliant introcruetion. The stow is breezy and the scene:v in keeping—wide expanses of sunlit .‘cinitry alternating with wonderful night scenes, There is some light and pleasing music and much admirable u .modv. The dancing is superb and the dressing and colour sccmes all through vividly beautiful. Miss Jo.de .Melville. Aus tralia’s much loved little star. ha„s «. part which suits her dainty personality and appealing charm exactly, and .Mr George Geo in the nam'o part, as “Kid Boots" lias on Hess opportunities for humour and makes the most of every one in his own irresistibly effective way. It would he easv to devote columns to a detailed account, but possibly a brief outline will serve to give an impression of'this notable presentation of this Zm’gfeld musical comedy, which is in the areond year of its run in New York.
