AID TO SURGERY.

NEW CLAIM FOR INSULIN. New York, Oct. 27. Before the Medical Convention, Dr. Denham declared that insulin will soon be of greater value in surgery than in the treatment of diabetes. 1 ‘lnsulin and sugar can be given to a patient who is moribund from bloodpoison of any kind, and in 36 hours the patient will be in a condition to withstand an operation, with a good chance of recovery," he said. He added that insulin and sugar would control and reverse the presence of bacteria and toxins in the blood. ‘‘One of the chief troubles with Americans is that they insist on over-eat-ing. Then they wonder why 1,000,000 persons over the ago of 45 in this country suffer from diabetes," said Dr. Charles Mayo at the Medical Con gress which is being held here. Dr. Mayo gave great praise to the work of the Australian surgeons, Dr. Boyle and Professor Hunter, of Sydney, and Dr. Devine, of Melbourne.
