Air J. A. Nash, AfP., has decided to retire from the position of president of the Afanawatu Bowling Centre.
Sister Bainbridge has left on a visit to Alarton and Wellington. Airs C. J. Stowe returned te Masterton this morning.
Air. Gordon Bainbridge left bj mail train this morning te resume his studies at R.uakura. Hamilton. Air. W. J. Carberry left by this morning’s mail train on a business visit to Auckland.
The Rev. Dr. Kelly, editor of the “Tablet,” has left Dunedin cn route to Europe. He expects to be absent if row the Dominion for twelve months.
Air and Airs Herbert George, who have been spending a few days in Hastings, left for their home, jn Dunedin this morning.
In the recent teachers’ examinations, Air. Cyril Warren, of Hastings, passed in drawing and with credit in hygiene, and qualified for a practical certificate.
Colonel J. W. Hutchon (secretary to the Samoan Administration) and his wife are on a visit to Wellington. They will spend three months in the Dominion.
The engagement is announced of Sybil, eldest daughter of Air and Airs W. G. Paterson, of Waipukurau, to Alexander, third son of th© Rev. Alexander Don, of Otago.
Lieutenant-Colonel E. J. Hulbert, D. 5.0., of tho 6th New Zealand Alount. ed Rifles, Manawatu, has been awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces officers’ decoration.
Air E. W. J. Bowden, who has held the position of secretary to the N.Z. Paper Mills, Ltd., for the past four years, has been appointed investigating accountant to tho Department of Industries and Commerce at Auckland.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Power Board, Air J. Ellis, member for Taradale, who has recovered from a serious illness, was welcomed by the chairman (Mr T. E. Crosse).
Air Temple-White, who conducted the oratoria “Elijah,” in Hastings last night, left this morning on his return to Wellington, a number of the vocalists on the railway platform singing “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” as the train • steamed south.
Air George Scott, Judge of the Law Court, Tonga, accompanied by his wite and two children, arrived at Auckland by tho Tofua. Air Scott will spend two weeks in Auckland, and then visit Tasmania. He will probably ue back, in Auckland about February, and will com plete his holiday by returning to Nukualofa in May or June.
