M.C.C. TEAM v. S. AUSTRALIA. Adelaide, Nov. 5. Tho English cricketers are busy practising. The wicket was heavy owing to recent rain, but they hope to get in a good deal ofi solid work. The Englishmen’s team to meet. South Australia is as follows: —Gilligan, Douglas, Chapman, Hobbs, Hearne, Hen. dren, Woolley, Sutcliffe, Tlydesley, Tate, Strudwick. SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH. Adelaide, Nov. 5. The cricket match wag continued in fine weather. The wicket was beginning to wear. South Australia, in the second innings, made 233 (Walsh 33, Grimmett 22, Wainwright 45). Hendry took three wickets for 83 and Tarrant three for 50. Victoria, in the second innings, lost one for 118 (Mayne 22, Ponsford, not out 58, Woodfull, not out, 34). The South Australian batsmen played defensively, runs coming slowly ,and lifeless batting was continued throughout the innings, Walsh having batted 148 minutes for 29 runs. South Australia badly failed to reproduce their first innings form.
