LEAK FROM LIVE WIRE.

ELECTRICIAN’S NARROW ESCAPE. A man named Wallach, employed on the staff of tho Hastings Municipal Electrical Department, met with a very painful accident this morning, and although tho effects proved to be slight, they might very easily have been fatal. He was engaged working on tho electric lines,, in Henry street, when owing to some leakage in the insulation, he received a shock of 230 volts, and he cried out. His mates thought ho had been fatally electrocuted, but when they went to him, they found him alive but uriable to let go th’e wire. The powerhouse was at once communicated with, and the current -was promptly cut off. with the result that flic man was immediately released from his 'predicament, when it was found that his hand had only been slightly burnt across the palm, and that so little harm had been done that Mr Wallace waa- able to resume work very soon after. This is tho first accident which has occurred in connection with the Municipal electrical operations.
