OTANE.

(Own Correspondent). A most enjoyable evening was spent in the Town Hall on Monday night, vvnen friends trom tar and near assembled to bid iarewell to the Rev. G. and Mrs Davidson. The platform, was occupied by the members ot the vestry and the itev. F. Robertson, of Waipawa. Eulogistic speeches were deuvered by the people's warden. Mr A. G. Clark. The vicar’s warden,’ Mr G«' C. Williams, Messrs Langridge, Spargo and the Rev. Robertson. Mr Clark presented Mrs Davidson with a very nandsome silver spirit kettle on behalf of her friends in Utane and Rukehou, and with a vanity bag from her Elstnorpe triends. Mr Williams presented tne vicar with a solid leather suit case and later on he was the recipient of a pocket wallet as the result of a very novel and interesting game. Both Mr and Mrs Davidson returned thanks, expressing their great regret at leaving utane. Songs were contributed by Mesdames Clearey, Avery, Manson, Uolquhoun, and Wrack; the Misses Kittow, Catton and Russell; a duet by the Misses Kittow, a recitation by Mrs Wrack, a song by Mr Sanderson, and a violin solo by Mr Angell. The hall was beautifully decoratue and tne ladies committee contributed a bounteous supper. At the special request of Mrs Davidson the hall was cleared for dancing at the close of the ceremony, which concluded with the singing ot “Auld Lang Syne.”
