THE KAHURANAKI ROAD

(To th© Editor.) Sir.—Some time ago there appeared in your paper a warning about the bad bend, with tho slip and the hundred foot sheer drop, on the Kahoranaki side of Mr. Mason Chambers’ Morea estate. This bend is still unimproved. After your warning a half-hearted attempt was made for three or four days to widen the road but before any result was obtained, men and horses were shifted without any apparent reason. I would like some of the powers that be to trv driving over this road on a wet, dark night. The settlers have started parking their cars on the Hastings side of this bend, sooner than face this menace when it is wet, as they expect a further slip from the middle of the narrow track at any moment.—Yours truly HUGH A. THOMPSON.
