PIGEON-FLYING.

HASTINGS HOMING CLUB. The open flock race from Wellington on Saturday last was flown under severe conditions, as shown by the slow time registered by the first bird that was “timed” in. The next four were the only ones to arrive back somewhere near the first bird. Results:— Alf. Brittin’s “S.O.S-,” 6hrs 35mins 54secs, 1. A. B. Hixon’s “Picotee,” 6hrs 36min a 48secs. 2 Alf. Brittin’s “Sunbeam,” 6hrs 37mins 44secs, 3. E. Vogtherr’s “Black Silk,” 6hrs 38mins 7secs, 4. Alf. Brittin’s “Odds.” 6hrs 39mins 24secs 3 5. The birds for the Timaru race will be hampered on Thursday morning at 6 o’clock. The special prize donated by Mr. P. R. Death was won by Dr. H. M. Wilson.
