HAVELOCK NORTH.
A very enjoyable euchre tournament in aid of the “Red House” stall, in connection with the forthcoming cnildren’s pageant, was held in the Village Hall, Havelock North last evening. There was a large number of players present and keen compWition w&s displayed for the substantial prizes offered. Messrs. Sefton and E. Leicester had charge of the games. The gentlemen’s prize of a quarter-ton of coal was e won by Mr. W 7 . Millar, the ladies’ prize of a five pound box of tea going to Mis a Knight. Mrs. Ross and M. Aiderman were awarded the booby prizes. Supiper was provided bv the ladies It is proposed to hold another euchre tournament in about two weeks’ time. Messrs Ross and Dysart, of Hastings, have kindly donated two prizes to the value of 15s each. The Havelock North Tennis Club demro to acknowledge with thanks the receipt of a donation of £3l from the Tauroa Golf Club, and also the club ef« fects consisting of the pavilion, mower’ rollers, etc. This handsome gift coming at the present time will prove a great help to the young club.
