SCINDE CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING At the annual meeting of the Scinde Club Mr P. Ashcroft presided over a large attendance of members. The balance-sheet showed the club to bo in a particularly sound position financially with a credit balance at the bank and liabilities nils The report indicated that the past peason had been a particularly successful one from every ; point of view, and the prospects for the coming season were exceptionally encouraging. It was resolved to forward letters of appreciation to Mr C. Canning, who generously undertook the arduous task of umpiring last season, and to Mr H. Taylor, who very kindly acted as scorer. The following officers were elected for the coming season:—Patroii, Mr P. Ashcroft; president, Mr Syd. White; vice presidents, Messsr C. Canning, H. Payen, A. B. Campbell, L. Mcllvride, Dr. Mercer; club captain, Mr M. R. Grant; committee, two captains, secretary, Messrs Cane, O’Brien, Cohen. Beland; custodian, Mr Cohen; Hon. scorer, M. Taylor; hon. secretary, Mr Me Sherry. Six new members were enrolled.
During the evening s Mr Ashcroft spoke very feelingly in regard to the. interest taken in the club by its late patron, the late Mr C. H. Edwards, whe passed away during tPb winter months, and a motion of condolence passed, all members standing. Mr Ashcroft very kindly offered to present a bat to the most useful mewbor of the second grade team. The meeting was terminated with an expression of appreciation of the ser vices of the hon. secretary, Mr McSherry. who had done so much during the past two seasons in placing the club on a firmer footing.
