In his personal statement bankrupt stated that he carried on business as a commission and indent agent from 1921 until June, 1924. He is now working for wages. He attributed his position to th© fact that he was unable to obtain regular supplies of produce, etc., from the South Island owing to the at-, tention he received from a certain trade association causing him to give up dealing in produce altogether. He then tried indenting, and did fairly well while he was getting regular shipments. Then came the dockers strike \w hi ch hit Turn very badly. For five months he did not get any supplies, and then got the whole of his orders at once. He had by this time lost the Christmas | trade, and found it very difficult to sell his goods except at tremendous sacrifice, in many cases 50 per cent below cost. Ho had not been able to make, a recovery and had been yiressed by several of his creditors, causing him to seek the protection of the Bankruptcy Court.
