TARADALE.
At last night’s meeting of the Town Board, the last before the election, the members made eulogistic /referene to the chairman’s (Mr J. Ellis) self-sacri-ficing services to the to the great detriment of his oWn business; and to the clerk, Mr W. G. Jarvis, for the excellent manner in which he had controlled the affairs of the Board. It was decided to place on record their appreciation of his valuable and conscientious service rendered sTs clerk of clerk to the Board. In referring to the balance-sheet of the various accounts of the Town Board at its meeting last night, the deputy chairman, Mr C. H. Williams, said that it was highly gratifying to the /Board which was shortly retiring to see them all in such a good position, in spite of the big works that the Board had undertaken. He was of the\opinion that it was not fair to any newly-elected Board to take over office in the middle of a financial year as a retiring Board towards the end of'their office could expend funds without due consideration, and make matters difficult for a newlyelected Board. He suggested that a remit requesting that municipal election be held at the end .of a financial year, be forwarded to the Municipal Associations
