11l feeling between Hindus and Mohammedans at Kohat culminated in serious rioting. It is reported that 20 were killed and bazaars looted and burned. A military force was sent from Peshawar to quell the outbreaks.
Three police and 14 Filipinos were killed in roting in connection with labour troubles at Lihue, in the jsland of Kauai, in the Hawaiian group.
The underwriters in London have agreed to pay 70 per cent, of the insured value of the steamer Port Lyttelton, which grounded in tho Tamar river in January and could not be repaired in Sydney owing to the Labour disputes. The owners retain the vessel tor disposal.—(A. and N.Z.)
