DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. AMATEUR STROKE HANDICAP. Auckland, Sept. 11. To-day wa s an off day in the New Zealand golf championship tournament and the only event played at Middlemore was a stroke handicap for amateurs. This wa& won by W. Geddes (Auckland) after playing off a tie with T. A. Goulding (Auckland). The best cards were.-—

Ladies v. Men Match. Considerable interest is being taken hi the test-match between ladies and men to be played at Middlemoro during the coming week-end. The following will form the ladies’ team:— Miss Eva Brown (Napier), Airs. Slack (Thames) Miss Pay ton (Auckland), Mrs. Blythe (Hamilton). Miss Acheson (Nelson), Miss Snodgrass (Rotorua), Mis s Jervis (Hutt) Mrs. Wagg (Hutt), Miss Ball (Wellington). The eight players who competed in the third round of the amateur championship have been asked to play for the men and another will be selected. The ladies will play from their own tees and will play agaipst the men on their respective handicaps, the ladies having one additional stroke owing to their par being 78 and the men’s bogey 77. LADIES’ AT WANGANUI. / Wanganui, Sept. 11. The ladies’ golf tournament was continued to-day in fine weather. Results of the second medal handicap are: — Seniors: Miss Brewster 95—16 —79. Juniors: Miss Montgomery Moore 108 — 30 —87. I The best gross score was that of Miss Gambrill (91). * A four-ball match was won by Mrs Hunter and Mrs Wollams, tfour up. The putting match was Avon by Mias Brandon. ON WAIOHIKI LINKS. A medal round played on the Waiohiki Links yesterday was won by Miss Hope Bernau with the score of 95— 23—E2. At the conclusion of 'the cQmpctition Mrs H. J. Smith, the club captain, was oi-.t ertained at au afternoon tea'by the lady members of the club, Mrs G. Kelly, the preaidont, in presenting Mrs Smith with a handsome travelling .clock, referred to the captain’s work for the club and the interest she had taken in golfing matters. They were all sorry to lose her services as captain, but up on her return from England they would welcome her again as an enthusiastic player. Mrs Smith, who is leaving for England next year, suitably replied and stated that during her term of office she had always done her best in the club’a interests and that was all that was expected of her.
