N E W ZEALAND WAR FUNDS.
ADMINISTERED TOO NIGGARDLY. (Special to “Tribune.”) Parliament Buildings, Sept. 12. The Hon. T. W. Bishop expressed his opinion in the Legislative Council yesterday on the past administration of New Zealand war funds. The giving out of war funds, he said, had been somewhat niggardly, and he hoped that in future it woold be on more liberal lines than had been the case in the past. The expenditure of a certain fund in the last year had been £5OOO Jess than the income, and yet every day men were seen walking about in abject poverty. The money ought to be spent, principal and interest, having due regard to the future for those who fought in the war. He hoped those in authority would see that the funds were administered with ,a much more lavish hand than had been used in the past.
