France and England were the principal buyers.—(A. and N.Z.) LONDON PRODUCE MARKETS. The Bank of New Zealand has received advice from London office under date sth. inst.. as follows:— Butter.—Quiet. 204 s to 2065. pei cwt.

Cheese.—Steady. White 94s to 95s per cwt. ; coloured. 91s to 92g per cwt,; stored parcels, 2s less. JLrozen meat.—The market for wether mutton has advanced slightly and is likely to be maintained. The market for ewes is dull and unchanged. First grade lambs remain steady whilst the market Jor second grade Jambs is firmer. No quotations for beef. Wethers, light 8d to 9d per lb.; heavy, 7 l-4d to 7 3-4 d per lb. Ewes, 5Jd. to 6}d per lb. Lambs under 42’s ll|d tn 12d per lb.; over 42’s 11 l-4d to lljd per lb., seconds. Hid to 12d per lb. London Wool Sales.—Prospects next sale distinctly favourable. Trade anticipates merinos and fine crossbreds will advance fully 10 per cent., coarsg and medium 7} per cent.

H. G. Evelyn White, lecturer at the Leeds University, a well-known Egyption archaeologist, committed suicide in a taxicab at Leeds while preceding to an inquest on Miss Helen Nind, music teacher, whither he was subpoenaed. At the inquest it was disclosed that Miss Nind poisoned herself with carbolic acid. Correspondence between White and Miss Nind was produced at the inquest.
