SUPREME COURT.
WELLINGTON SESSIONS. Wellington, July 29. The Supreme Court criminal sessions opened before Mr Justice Reed to-day. In his charge to the Grand Jury his Honour referred to the long calendar, but said that it did not necessarily mean any great increase in crime. In regard to the charge of murder, he said he would not refer to it at length. It was a matter for the jury to consider. i’arlane Ross Walker pleaded guilty to the sale of chattels already under bill of sale to the Crown, the offence taking place at Auckland. Counsel said that accused had acted in good faith in the matter and had pleaded guilty in order to save the country the expense of a prolonged trial. His Honour decided to grant probation, the terms of which were held over.--Association.
