SOUTH’AFRICA v. ESSEX. (Received 19. 11.40 a.m.) London, June 18. Essex, in their first innings agains: S uth Africa, made 155 (Russell 341 Pegler took four for 34. The South Af ri-ans had lost two wickets for 157 when stumps were drawn (Taylor, not out, 104 Hearne 43). Taylor gave a magnificent all-round display.—(Reut e:).
