Munich Trial
Real Battle Opened
VON LOSSOW’S STORY
AIM OF THE NOVEMBER RISING. JBy t'abie.-l’rea* AMooiaUun.—Cop?right.; London, March 11The "Daily Telegraph’*” special cor respondent at Munish says. “After a fortnight’s skirmishes the great Ludendorff battle has opened in earnest. For the first time since November 8 supposed allies, but real enemies, came face to face.
There is every sign that the struggle is going to be serious and stubborn. Reconciliation or compromise is out of the question now that von Kahr von Lossow and Seissler must take their places in the dock, or Ludendorff’s reputation and influence will be gone forever.”
Lossow’s first words revealed that he is 42 and a born fighter- He shows his teeth both literally and figuratively, for when he raises his voice his features take on a snarling expression boding ill for his opponents- He declaimed in a resonant voice which would have filled London’s Albert Hall. Lossow denied that the programme contemplated a march on Berlin- The aim was not a dictatorship, but a directorate. established peacefully under President Ebert’s emergney powers. Lossow did not say how President Ebert was to be induced to use his powers- The secret will be divulged in camera.
He continued that so little was suspected of what was coming that he went to a cellar unarmed and found hig followers armed and in a state of delirium. It would have been a waste of time to argue. “The only way to avert a catastrophe was to deceive them as they deceived us in undertaking the coup contrary to their solemn pledges,” he said. Lossow finally declared that the bloodshed on November 9 lay upon the consciences of those who marched against the State not those who fired.—(A. and N-Z.)
