WESTLAND GHOLDFIELDS.
JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. Hokitika, Jan. 11. The Westland goldfields jubiloe celebrations were continued yesterday with a special picture entertainment and afternoon tea to visitors. The West Coasters’ reunion in the Soldiers’ Hall at night proved a great success. There was a large attendance of pioneers, and the proceedings were very hearty, many old-time songs and dances with community singing being successfully introduced. Throughout there was great enthusiasm and the evening was voted a delightful success, the visitors expressing great satisfaction at the opportunity to renew old acquaintances. Mrs. Seddon was present. Mr. John Ritchie, a South Westland veteran, expressed the appreciation and gratification of the pioneers at the hospitality and the courtesies ektended. Further festivities continue to-day. The Minister of Mines visited Harihari yesterday and returned in the evening to Hokitika and received deputations. afterwards attending the exhibition.
