THE WOOL MARKET. SYDNEY SERIES CLOSED. Sydney, Dec. 19. The eighth series of wool sales has concluded. Competition was keen for all descriptions at late rates and well maintained. The next series commences on January 7. DUNEDIN SALE. Dunedin, Dec. 19. The first wool sale of the Dunedin series will commence here to-morrow morning, when 17,540 bales will be offered. At the corresponding sale last year the offering was 10,000 bales. Great interest is being taken in the sale, the city being well filled with vendors. A full bench of buyers will operate. STORTFORD LODGE STOCK SALE. The associated auctioneers held their usual weekly sale at Stortford Lodge yesterday, and a medium yarding of cattle and a good yarding of sheep came forward. Rape lambs made their first appearance this season, when a good line of Down- lambs made 18s 3d. The following is a range of the prices:—-Fat bullocks £7, £8 2s; fat cows, good £4 10s, £5 11s, medium, £3 to £4 10s; fat heifers, £4, £5 ,3d 6d; 15-months steers, £2 Is, £2 6s; fat ewes 19s to 21s lid, fat lambs 20s, fat wethers 295, 2-tuoth wethers 21s to 22s 7d, 2-tooth wethers (medium) 17s 6d to 20s, 4-tooth f. and f. wethers 27s 7d, rape lambs (S.D.) 18s 3d, m.s. store lambs 12s 6d.
HIDES AND SKINS SALE. The monthly sale of sheepskins, hides and tallow was held on Tuesday, there being a good bench of buyers in attendance. Dry sheepskins were in very keen demand and sold exceptionally well, prices being well in advance of last sale. There was not a very choice offering of hides, but good butcher abattoir were on a par with last sale. Calfskins were in good demand at slightly better figures. Bag wool, of which there was not much offering, sold well. Tallow was on a par with last sale. The following* prices were realised:— {Sheepskins. — Halfbred, half to full wool, to 15|d, short to half wool, 9|d to ll£d; three-quarter bred, B|d to 13£d and to 10|d; crossbred, 7Ad to 12|d and 6d to coarse crossbred, 7jd to 9£d; dead, 7£d to lUd and sd; damaged, sid to 9d; double fleece 3d and 7Ad; seedy 7Ad to 9£d and 2d to sd; salted, 5s to 7s 7d and 3s Id; salted dry, Is 6d to 6s sd; Inlets three-quarterbred, lid; hoggets crossbred, 6d to 13|d; pelts 3u to 3s each, lambs crossbred, 8d to 13Ad; pelts salted, Is 4d each. Hides. — Ox: Heavy, butcher 7 l-8d to 7jd; country, nil; medium, 6d to 6 l-8d and 4 5-8 d; light 4 3-8 d and 3jd to 3 l-Bd, cut, 3 7-8 d to 4|d and 3 3-8 d; slippy and inferior, nil and lAd to 2£d. Cow: Heavy, 5 5-8 d and 4 l-sd; medium, 4Ad to 47 8d and i 3 3-8 d to 4 5-8 d; light, 4Ad and 23-8 d; ’to 4d; cut, 3Ad and 3d to 3 5-8 d; ’ slippy and inferior, nil and IJd to 2Ad. Bull: Stag, nil; cut, nil and 25-8 d; yearlings nil and 3d to cut, nil and 3d to 3 5-8 d; slippy and inferior, nil and Id to 2d. Calf: Superior, 6 to 10 lbs, 14d; medium to good 6 5-8 d to 12d; superior, under 6 lbs, 14s 7-8 d to 16 l-8d; medium to good, lOd to 13 7-8 d; cut 3 5-8 d to 12 7-8 d; slipp yand inferior, 3d to 9d. Tallow: Tins, 2Ad to 25-8 d; rough, Id to lid, horsehair, 15d to J6Ad.
