BRITISH BOTTLES.
AN UNSATISFACTORY SHIPMENT Wellington, Dec. 19. Councillor W. H. Bennett, chairmai of the Milk Committee, informed the City Council last night that the bottlei ordered from British makers (in conformity w’ith the Council’s decision tc deal with English rather than American firms) had come to hand, but were imt-staaiding, the trial of th© washing and sterilising machine, in which If per cent were broken. The shipment was thus a huge failure and the Council might have to get a Hurried replenishing supply from America. The trouble with the latter, however, was that the makers would not guarantee the total contents of their bottles; thus the Council could not be sure of complying with the provisions of the Food and Drugs Act.
