HASTINGS METHODIST CHURCH.

'SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. ■ The anniversary of the above Sunday /School was celebrated on Sunday last, when three services were held. At the morning service th e Rev. A. Mcßean i was the preacher. He spoke to the j children on “A Heqrt _to Let,” and to ’ the teachers and partTiis on “Love to ' Christ as the supreme qualification’for 'Christian service?’ At the afternoon i service the Rev. P, Ramsay delivered an interesting address to the children. .Air. Alcßean preached at night, his ; subject being “The Emphatic Life,” I addressed chiefly towards the young ! people, besides which he gave a brief address to the children. The congregations throughout the day were good, and for the evening service some were ; unable to gain admission. A feature of the services was the excellent sing-: I ing of the children who had been care- | fully trained bv Air. AV. Blight. Solos i were sung by Dorothy Symonds. Joan Clarkson. Afay Cunnold, Rita Fearn, and Robina Sands. The children were assisted in their singing by the church choir and an orchestra. Airs A. Christie presided at the organ and Mr. Blight conducted. The church wag artistically decorated for the occasion by Airs F. Symonds. The anniversary concert took place* . in the schoolroom or? Tuesday evening, when there was again a large attendance, ami a ca]3jital programme was given by the children. Recitations and dialogues, and vocal and instrumental music, \tere all rendered in a very creditable manner. The superintendent. Air. C. Gr. Cunnold gave a short report on the work of the school, and also th€ financial statement from which it was seen that the school is in all respects in a healthy condition. Altogether, everything in connection with the anniversary passed off in a happy manner, and on every hand the. festival wa* a. dnlin-htful success-
