AUSTRALIAN NAVIGATION ACT.
AN IRRITATING ANOMALY. (Received 17. 12.15 p.m.) Hobart, November 17. On account of the provisions of th© Navigation Act th© Moeraki, which leaves Melbourne on December 4 for Hobart and New Zealand, will not be allowed to bring passengers from Melbourne, although there is no passenger service in this trade, and the Minister has discretonary power wher© the service . between ports is inadequate. Strong indignation is expressed locally, ■the Act being regarded as a farce.
