VENEREAL DISEASE.
/LAI ERIC AN METHOD OF TREATMENT. PUBLIC AND PRIVATE CLINICS. Wellington, Nov. 16. Important observations on the treatment of venereal disease were made by Dr. D. AjyacDonaid Wilson, medical superintendent of the Wellington Hospital, on his recent visit to America. He reported to the Wellington Hospital Boai‘d to-day that clinics for venereal disease were in all centres. The work was usually carried on under the local health authority and free treatment was given by them either at county or municipal hospitals and at clinics in the various wards of large cities. Other recognised clinics might be at other hospitals, where the usual out-patient fee was charged or doctors might specialise and conduct clinics. Dr. Wilson added: “A*doctor may require to obtain a license to conduct such a Clinic and his premises be open to inspection r by the health authority. However, as long as a. clinic is being conducted, on modern lines and the latest methods are employed a doctor !is not interfered with. There is notification of V.D. in the U.S.A, by name I and in Canada by number. Some | States enforce notification very strictly, but from all I could gather other States j are more lax. Generally in the United ! States the authorities are active and I no sentiment is wasted in attempting 'to stamp out the etil* However as regards actual facilities to the patient 1 I did not find that we are in any way 1 behind their methods or procedure.”
