TAXATION OF BETTING.
A PRACTICABLE IMPOST. THE COMMITTEE’S FINDING. (Received 16. 12.40 p.m.) November 15. The Betting Committee gave a majority, report that a betting tax was practicable, but in view of the Parliamentary dissolution it abandoned consideration of the report in favour of a 2j per cent. duty, collectable, by means of stamps, and the establishment of ready-money betting offices.—/Reuter.)
