Overseas Premiers

A Farewell Dinner THE EMPIRE AND THE WORLD. UNITY IN FOREIGN POLICY. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 16, 10.5 a.m.) London, Nov. 15. Mr. Baldwin presided at a farewell dinner to the Dominion Premiers at the House of Lords under the auspices of the Empire Parliamentary Association. In proposing the health of the guests, he said that no one could daily converse with the dominion representatives without realising that the Empire was a great fact. He expressed the opinion that the Conference marked an important step in the evolution of relations as they affected the world outside the Empire. Mr. Bruce, in responding, said that it was useless for any one portion of the Empire to refuse to follow Britain in war, but as foreign policy and war were so closely associated it was necessary that (Australia should have a voice therein. Australia recognised that her own safety lay with the Empire. Belfast University, will confer its Doctorship of Law’s oh Mr. Massey on November 30th.—(Reuter.)
