OBITUARY.

MR GEORGE JAY GOULD. (Received 17, 12.45 p.m.) Paris, May 16. A Mentone telegram announces the death of George Jay Gould, the Amen can railway magnate. Mr. George Jay Gould, son of the late Mr. Jay Gould, a noted American millionaire was born in New York in 1864. and became a clerk in a banking house of xvhich his father was a partner. On his father’s retirement he joined the firm. Subsequently he entered into railway control as president of the Little Rock and Fort Smith Railway, and in later years he became president of many companies operating the principal lines of America.
