STANDARD OIL.

DENIAL OF MONOPOLIES. Washington, March 5. The presidents of the Standard Oil Companies operating in the various States answering the La Follette Committee’s charges deny that any combine exists to control prices. Mr. W. C. Teagle, president of the Standard Oil Company in New Jersey, stated that the availability of industrial alcohol and other substitute motor fuels at fnoderate prices fixed a limit beyond which petrol could not rise.
