THE RED ARMY.

ON A PEACE FOOTING. DETAILS OF NO OFFENSIVE~CONTEMPLATED. (Received 6, 11.20 a.m.) London, March 5. The “Daily. Mail’s” Petrograd correspondent says that there have been many rumours of impending Red offensives, which are mainly Bolshevik propaganda. The truth is that the army is entirely on a peace footing, the only infantry class under arms being that of 1901, though the 1902 class will shortly be called up. The divisions have two establishments. on the frontier and in the interior respectively, the ration strength being 8700 and 6721. There are 39 such divisions, three or four in Turkestan, one in Georgia, one in Azerbaijan, one in Armenia, and two in the Far East, while between forty and fifty batteries of heavy artillery are scattered about.

The Bolsheviks have greatly progressed in aviation, and many modern British and Italian machines of high standard are flying.—(United Service.)
