- A LONG JUMP RECORD. Wellington, March 6. , The Athletic Association was asked io pass the American athlete Merchant’s long jump of 23ft 3Ain. as a, 'New Zealand record. It was done at Auckland under the old rules, which, are now not recognised. The council felt itself in a dilemma, and referred all recent records to the committee. The Council is also taking measures to have javelins manufactured in Australia or New Zealand.
