THE PICTURE HOUSES.
MUNICIPAL. A most entertaining picturisation of Richayd Davis’s’ story “Playing Dead” is “Restless Souls,’’ with Earle Williams in the leading role and which will commence screening at the Municipal Theatre. Hastings, to-night. The story provides Earle Williams with a production in which he is sure to win popularity—that of a man who plays dead that his wife may marry another, then when he finds that his will is missing turns up alive and is re-united to the woman of his choice. A dog plays an important part in this production and there are many extraordinary developments concerning the will. Two comedies, a scenic picture and topical budgets will be shown in support. COSY DE LUXE. ‘The Black Bag,” the first feature on the programme at the Cosy this evening, is a fascinating photoplay adapted to the screen from the novel of Louis Joseph Vance. The story concerns a young business man who falls in love with a girl he is afterwards told has stolen a costly string of gems. He surprises the leader of the criminal band ransacking the girl’s home. Kirkwood (Herbert Rawlinson) overpowers the burglar and takes the gems to his own hotel room whence they are stolen again by a woman accomplice of the man Kirkwood had recently left. Kirkwood, ,still mystified as to what it’s all about, recovers the necklace and brings the thieves back, only to be arrested himself as one of their number. Supporting Rawlinson are Virginia Valli, Bert Roach, Clara Beyers, Charles L. King, Herbert Fortier, Lou Short, Jack O’Brien, Dick Sutherland, Arthur Hoyt and William DeVaull. The second feature is “The Love Special,” starring Wallace Reid.' The usual pictures will support.
