THE SEAMEN.

EXECUTIVE AGAIN MEETING. FURTHER NEGOTIATIONS EXPECTED. Wellington, Jan. 8. , The executive council of the Federal Seamen’s Union is again meeting in Wellington, and it is assumed negotiations may take place with the owners. If the union decides to approach the owners it is thought it will ask that preference be given to members. This would have the. effect of compelling the non-unionists at present in the ships to join the union and would get over the difficulty created by the refusal of the companies to dispense with the services of the men who came to their assistance when the trouble arose.
