A SITE SELECTED. Wellington, Jan. 8. It is announced by the Wellington Citizens’ War Memorial Committee that after giving the matter most careful consideration they have decided upon asking the City Council to grant the site of the old Turkish baths behind the Royal Oak Hotel as an area on which to erect the citizens’ memorial to Wellington fallen soldiers. Upon such site being secured the committee will invite competitive designs for the erection of a monument that will eonforni to the present and prospective surroundings and lie in every way a fitting tribute to the memory of the 1700 men who fell in the Great War from amongst the recruits who went from the city and suburbs. The estimated cost or the memorial is £lO.OOO. towards which £2300 is now available.
