A brilliant display of lightning was observed in the eastern horizon on Thursday evening. It continued for an hour after 7.30 o’clock.
News was received in Waipawa on Thursday that Lionel youngest son of Mr. W.’ I. Limbrick of Plimmerton, and formerly of Waipawa, was very seriously ill. It appears that the lad tripped and fell down a steep hill recently, and the fall was such as to cause serious injury. Immediately alter the accident he was taken to Wellington and is there receiving the best skilled medical attention.
News has been 1 received of the sudden death at Auckland of the wife of Mr. Albert Fellow. -Airs. Fellow was popularly known here, and the sympathy of the local public goes out to the husband and children in their bereavement. Mr. AV. Fellow left by car on receipt of the news on Monday and caught the Auckland express at Palmerston. Air. Fellow will also visit his son Alfred, who recently went under a serious operation in the Auckland Hospital.
The promotion of Mr. P. J. Q'(»orman from AVoodville to the of postmaster at Hawera was j with pleasure by the old residents of Waipawa who renumber as a very courteous official op the local postal staff.
Mr. AV. H. Rathbone reports the rainfall recorded at AVaipawa as follows:—Total for December, 7.08»ii. The total for 1922 was 35.52, 1921 23.70, 1920 32.16. The average for the last ten years was 32.83 in.
