FAT STOCK. EXPORT VALUES. Christchurch, Dec. 9. Mr David Jones, chairman of the Aleat Producers’ Board, supplies the attache?! report on the values of fat stock for export. Air Jones stated: “One of tho difficulties in the past has been the fact that the farmer lias been unable to ascertain the actual market value of his fat stock, and the Atcat Producers’ Board has decided to give our - tveekly reports stating the actual prices paid for fat stock in various parts of the Dominion. The Board believes that the list will be of considerable value to farmers. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited have received the following cablegram from their Lomlon house under date December C; —
J'anuary Wool SaJes.—Arrivals ud to December 2 including branch specifications Port Albany, Mahana, Port Sydney, Westmoreland. Kaikcura and Whakatane are available. Now Zealand Frozen Meat.- Lamb 11 »d per lb; mutton, quotations unchanged. (Last quotations November 15. 1922: Wether and maiden ewe, light, 8?d per lb, heavy 7’d per lb; ewe. light Gjd. heavy G 3-8 d); beef, ox hinds 1 l-8d per lb; fores 3 5-8 d per lb; cow binds, 3 7-8 d per lb; fores 3 J-8d per lb. Market slow. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., Napier, have received the following cable from their Head Office, Txindon, dated December 6th., 1922:—
Dairy Produce: Butter prices are lower since our last wire 5/- to 6;-. Still no improvement in demand and there are pager sellers. Butter: Market demoralised. We quote—Danish, 198/- per cwt.; finest Australian salted, 166/- per cwt.; finest Australian unsalted. 170/- per cwt.; finest Australian G.A.Q. 156/per cwt.; New Zealand salted 170/- per cwt. Cheese: Market steady but quiet. New Zealand. 126/- per cwt. ; Canadian 126/- per cwt.
SATURDAY MARK El REPORTS.
Messrs. Beard, Bullen and Co. report having offered an enormous entry of poultry of all kinds. A small entry of pigs and the same of dairy cows at their market sale on Saturday last, and quote as follows:—Extra heavytable fowls made up to 6/-, good to 7/4, others 3- to 7/-, ducks //- for small to 10/- for heavy, turkey gobblers, 30/- to 36/-, turkey hens 15/to 25/-, geese 8/6 tu 17/r, hens with broods 6/6 to 25/-. Pigs: Slips 15/- to 19/6, weaners 11/ to 12/6, porkers 39,to 43/3. Fat lambs 14/-. Dairy stock: 1 Short, cow in profit £4 17/6, 1 Jer. cow on drop £4 16/-, 1 empty dry cow 20/-. Fruit and produce: ’Apples 2/3 to 4 potatoes averaged 3/6 tin, barley 10/-. maize 8/- to 10/6 per sack. We sold a quantity of farm and garden sundries and disposed of several hundred yards of salvaged tweeds at satisfactory prices.
Messrs. Gill Bros, report having offered and sold full pens of poultry and pigs and a small yarding of cattle at their Hastings market sale on Saturday. Every lot excepting one cow found buyers, pigs being in exceptionally keen demand. Good weaners made up to 22/6. Prices were as follows:— Poultry: Table birds made up to 9/4, others 5/4 to 7/10, laying NV .L. hens 5/10 to 7/8, cockerels 2/- to 4/10, ducks 8/8 to 10/8, Turkeys 38/-, all at per pair ; hens with broods 8/6, week-old chicks 5/- doz. Pigs: Weaners made up to 22/6, others 13/6 to 21/-, porkers 27/- to 32/-. Dairy stock: Jersey S.H. cow in profit £l2 1/-, do. heifer in one week £8 10/-, aged dry cow £5, 1 Jer-S.H. heifer 2 yrs £6 10/-, 1 yearling Jersey heifer £7. General: Apples 3/3 to 5/4 halfcase, lemons 1/9 doz., new potatoes S.B. lots 10/-. benzine tins 3/6 to 4/-, lettuce 1/- doz., gooseberries 3/- doz. lbs., peas 1/9 peck, shelled maize 5/bus., cob do. 7/1 to 9/- sack, barley 8/- to 11/-. oats 12/6. We also sold a number of motor car tyres and tubes, harness, wheelbarrow, fowl grit, gent’s bike and quantity sundries at general rates.
