ENGLISH MATCHES. London, Dec. 9. Smith and Newman are alternatively 'leading, the play of both men being brilliant. Newman, since the previous cable, has scored 31 breaks of over 100, aggregating 5748, including 513, 388 and 361. Smith made, 26 breaks of over 100, aggregating 4988. including 406, 379 and 334. The scores are: Newman 14,667, Smith 14,0221. Falkiner. who is playing in brilliant form, overhauled Inman, scoring in the week 34 breaks of over 100. aggregating 6979. of which 18 were over 200 and five over 300, against Inman’s 24 of over 100, aggregating 4449, of which nine were over 200.
