Tilden has declared that it is now certain what is left of his middle finger will virtually be useless for gripping the racquet. It will therefore lie ne- | sary to build up an entirely new system of play, as many of his best tricks I will be lost. His backhand and fore--1 hand drives are the only strokes not | affected. He does not expect ever i 1 again to reach championship class.—- I ; (A. and N.Z.)
