A FARCICAL TRIAL.
THE HERRIN MASSACRE
New York, Dec. 8,
The jury to try the accused at Marion, Illinois, in connection with the Herrin massacre has been completed after five weeks’ strenuous efforts by the prosecution, in which several panels were exhausted by continual, wrangling. The lightness with which the trial is regarded was demonstrated yesterday, when a parade of fraternal lodge members entered the courthouse and seized lawyers and officers, putting them under farcical arrest and forcing an adjournment of the proceedings.—(A. and N.Z.)
