Mr T. R. Lees, Controller of the Imperial Government Supplies Department for the past six years, is leaving by the Makura for London, via Vancouver. In London Air Lees will cairy on. th.' work connected with the New Zealand Meat Control Board, begun by Mr J. S. Jessep. Mr Lees was also a member of the New Zealand Wool Cornnmtee. The work of the Department of Imperial Supplies is now practically finished. It was a huge undertaking, involving the expenditure by the Imperial Government and the distribution in New Zealand of over £160,000,000. Mr Lees was appointed secretary of the. Meat Export Board on its being set up to assume control of the trade. He is a sheep-farmer himself, and therefore has practical experience of both the wool and meat-growing industries. He will meet Mr Jessep, who is now in the United States, at Vancouver, and confer with him there on the situation as regards the marketing and distribution of New Zealand frozen meat in Great Britain. During Mr Lees’ absence, Mr G. C. Smith will be acting secretary of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Beard.
