A very pleasant gathering was hold in Hastings yestenlay afternoon, when Mr. R. Mofatt, manager of tho National Bank, entertained members of Mio legal pfofesSTon prior to his leaving for \y,ellington, whither ho is lieing transferred on promotion. Mr. Molatt referred to the friendly relations that had always existed between himself and the mem hors of the l<*gal profession in Hastings, and thanked them for their kindness to him during his stay here. Several of those present spoke of Mr. Moiatt’s ability as a banker, of liTs pleasant manner, bis tact in dealing with people and absence of red tape. Occasion was also taken to introduce the new manager, Mr. Banisdale.
