HAVELOCK NORTH BATHS.

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Havelock North Baths executive was held last evening, Mr. E. F. Leicester residing over a full attendance. The principal business was the fixing of hours. The secretary. Mr. P. J. Setton. said a temporary schedule had been drawn up, but was not giving satisfaction, the principal complaints coming from the ladies, who considered they should have more time allotted to them than the one hour set aside at present. Mr. Sefton said he felt there was good reason for complaint, as the ladies had done as much as, if not more than, the men in tile actual raising of funds. He moved the adoption of a schedule, the chief features of which were that ladios have a share of the early morning hours (Tuesday and Thursday), aud also have special hours in the forenoon the afternoon. and the evening of every day. This had been done without interferi'ering with the men’s hours. The motion was carried. There was considerable discussion on Sunday bathing, and it was decided to allow ladies to have the exclusive use of the baths from 7 to 8 a.m., menfrom Bto 10. Opinions were divided as to whether Suuday alternoon bathing should be mixed or for men only. Ultimately Mr. Selton proposed and Mr. Toop seconded that the baths be open from 2 to 5 each Sunday afternoon for men only, schoolboys not being admitted. This was carried by seven votes to three. Arrangements were also made tor the Swimming Club to have the use of the baths on Monday and Friday evenings from 7.30 to 9. The adoiked schedule provides for mixed bathing only in the evening's from 7.30 to 9 and on Saturday afternoons from I to 3. Tlie matter of more frequently emptying the small bath was referred to the Works Committee. The children's swimming and diving contests ou Saturday next are causing great excitement among the juveniles, who are looking for a royal time.
