HASTINGS HIGH SCHOOL.
PROMISED BUILDING GRANT. i PREMIER’S REPLY TO TELEGRAM. His Worship the Mayor of Hastings received the following telegram from the Rt. Hon. the Premier on Monday night: — “Telegram signed by yourself, chairman of Education Board, and President of Chamber of Commerce, addressed to Mr H. M. Campbell relating to grant for Technical High School was handed to me on board the Wainui this afternoon on my journey to Blenheim. The position regarding the Holding grant mentioned is that this was in pursuance of a promise made by Sir Francis Bell some years ago when Minister of Education, and which had been compelled to remain in abeyance owing to lack of funds. Shall be very glad to see that Hastings’ application receives consideration as soon as funds become available. (Signed) W. F. Massey.
