AN OFFER DEC LINED. At the meeting of the Hastings Borough Council last evening the attraction of 10 sites lor the erection oi workmen’s homes, in which the seller was willing to accept payment in debentures, due in lour years without interest, during which lime he would pay rates and taxes on the property, besides handing the council £loo, and three further sections free, was considered. . . The Mayor said that no one would accept tlie plans. The first thins they would have to find out was where the sewer was situated. It might run through one ol the sections Ur. Clarkson moved and (r. Cour seconded that the offer be declined, as the council did not propose a continuous erection of the houses. The motion was carried.
