ATHLETICS.
WAIPUKURAU CLUB. (Own Correspondent.) A committee meeting of the Waipukurau Athletic and Cycling Clubs was held in Mr -Manning’s sample rooms, Mr Adams presiding. There were also present: Messrs A. McConchic, G. L. Chatwin, W. Mitchell, M. C. Symons, W. Mahoney, J. Butler and the secretary. The following officers were elected for the coining year:—President, Sir Geo. Hunter, M.P.; vice-presidents, Messrs J. W. Harding, H. A. Speedy, R. Sainsbury, P. Hunter, V. D. Wisnosky, L. G. Harker, W. A. Chambers, G Bryce, Dr. Haymond, J. Butler, M. Sowry, G. Dowrick, F. S. Wells, J. H. Hopkinson, K. Keyvar, Dr. Reid, J. J. Langridge, A. Riddle, E. A. Goodger, J. Main, F. Ward, D. Fisher, J. Roper, B. J. McCormick; auditor, Mr G. E. Fowler; treasurer, Mr E. H. Manning; assistant secretary, Mr A. McConchic; result rewards, Mr J. Paku; timekeeper, Mr G. L. Chatwin; press steward, Mr V. Haydon; committee, Mr Adams (chairman), Messrs Mahoney, Manning, McConchic, Mitchell, Butler, Chatwin, Fish, Dowrick, Thomas, Wells, Symons, Baku and Haydon. Proposed by Mr Symons and seconded by Mr Paku, that some horse events bp left on the programme. Mr Symons was elected sole judge for horse events. Mr Baku notified that Messrs Stewart and Company were willing to give the special prize of £2 2s for lhe Waipukvrau Handicap. Mr McConchic moved that the secretarv write to Messrs Stewart and Co. and thank them for their donation. The motion was seconded uy Mr Dowhck and carried. Several items were added to the precramnie. including ladies* maiden jump, sew and elmp and relay race. A sub-committee, consisting of the sceretarv. chairman and Messrs Butler. E Manning and M. Symons was set up /or the purpose of arranging the event. concluded the meeting.
