The Napier Working Men’s Club’s euchre party and dance on Saturday night was again most successful. The Napier Fellowship met as usual ’ ill Scijjde Hall, last evening. Mr. R. Perratt delivered an interesting i on country life in Australia and New Zealand. The work of forming the roadway, making the connection of Heretaunga street with Eastbourne street, which will complete the road extension to Lyndon road, known as the Station street extension, has now fairly taken shape and it will not he long before the operations are concluded. When the pathway is put in order and the land skirting the railway line transformed into a strip of garden, as far as Lyndon road, on the past as well as the west side of the railway, a beauty spot will have been established in the centre of the town, in addition to which the extension must have the effect of relieving the heavy traffic at the Heretaunga street crossing. The festival services and anniversary of the dedication of St. Matthews Church, Hastings, were held yesterday, when Choral Communion was celebrated at 11 a.m., the preacher being Rev. J. Brocklehurst. who also dedicated the Teredos, presented to the church by the family of the late Mr. and Mrs Beamish. At the evening service, special psalms and music, including the anthem “Send out Thy Light,” were beautifully rendered by the full choir, the preacher being Rev. Archdeacon SimpKins. The Revs. Hall and Gibson assisted at both services. After the last hymn was sung the choir filed out of their seats and stood in the chancel, before the altar, to sing the “Te Deum,” as an art of praise, and thanksgiving. Mr. T. J. Ferbrache, organist, is to be congratulated on ' the efficient manner in which the J music was rendered. 1 Electors who voted at the last gen- ] oral election should not by any means j take it for granted that their names i will appear on the roll now in course t of compilation, and immediate steps s should be taken by them to see whether they have been omitted through p an oversight. Quite a number of people are complaining that, though they ' exercised the franchise of 1919. their names have been struck off the new t rolls which have been prepared. In some cases electors have been inform- c ed by others who have glanced at the s rolls that their names have been ( omitted, and this has caused surprise, as people who voted at last election have taken it for granted that they 1 would he certain of enrolment this ( year. It has been explained in the House of Representatives that great 2 care has been taken in compiling the new roll, but the fact that omissions j have incurred should be sufficient rea- f son for the electors generally to make y sure their claims to vote are not overlooked.
