BRITISH DELEGATION. ARRIVES NEXT WEEK. A delegation rfom the Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers, the largest organisation of woodworkers in Great Britain, is now on its way to New Zealand. Mr T. Bloodworth, secretary of the Auckland branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and .Joiners, received advice on Saturday that the delegation, which is due to arrive At Wellington from San Francisco by the Tahiti next week, consists of the president, the general secretary, ami the chairman of the executive council. The Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers has a membership of nearly 200,000. It was formed some two years ago by the amalgamation of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters, the General Union of Carpenters, and two unions of cabinetmakers. The Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joi/ners in New Zealand was established in 1872 as a branch of the Society in Great Britain. One object of the delegation is to review the present position of the society here and make certain adjustments necessitated by the amalgamations in Britain. The delegation viTT also visit Australia, the United States and Canada. It is expected that the visitors will make a close study of the industrial laws in New Zealand, and the question of immigration.
